Best SEO Company in Nepal: How to Judge One Yourself

No credible ranking of the best SEO company in Nepal exists, because every published list is either self-authored or paid placement. The reliable method is to test candidates yourself against seven checks: their own rankings, their reporting, their technical depth, their ownership terms, their references, their refusals, and their honesty about timelines.

Introduction

Search best SEO company in Nepal and you get listicles. Read three of them and you notice the same handful of names in different orders, each list published by a company that appears on it. That is not research, it is marketing dressed as research.

I am not going to hand you another ranked list, including one with my own name on it. What I can give you is the diagnostic I would run if I were hiring an SEO provider in Kathmandu tomorrow with my own money on the line. It takes about thirty minutes per candidate and it is far more reliable than any list.

Every check below is something you can verify yourself, without SEO knowledge, using free tools.

Why are "best SEO company" lists in Nepal unreliable?

"Best SEO company in Nepal" lists are unreliable because they carry no disclosed methodology, no evaluation criteria, and usually no author independent of the companies listed. A list becomes evidence only when it states how candidates were scored and who did the scoring. Almost none of the Nepali lists do either.

Before trusting any list, look for three things:

  1. A stated methodology. What was measured? Rankings, client retention, revenue, results?
  2. An independent author. Is the publisher an SEO company that also appears on the list?
  3. A date and a review process. Was this scored this year, or written once in 2021 and re-dated?

If a list fails all three, it is an advertisement. Google's own guidance on creating helpful, reliable, people-first content puts trust at the centre of content quality, noting that of experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness, trust is the most important. An undisclosed paid list fails that test on its face.

What are the seven checks for judging a Nepali SEO company?

Judge a Nepali SEO company on seven checks: whether the company ranks for its own commercial terms, whether it will show a real client report, whether it can explain one technical problem clearly, whether you keep ownership of your accounts, whether references are contactable, what work it refuses to do, and whether it gives an honest timeline.

# Check How to run it Fail signal
1 Own rankings Search their target terms in an incognito window Invisible for their own service terms
2 Real reporting Ask to see an anonymised monthly client report Screenshots only, or a refusal
3 Technical depth Ask them to explain one indexation problem plainly Jargon with no plain-language version
4 Account ownership Ask who owns Search Console, Analytics and the Google Business Profile They own it, or they dodge
5 References Ask for two contactable current clients Logos but no contacts
6 Refusals Ask what work they will not do They will do anything you pay for
7 Timeline honesty Ask when you will see results A promise of rankings in weeks

Check 1 in detail: do they rank for their own terms?

This is the fastest signal available and almost nobody uses it. Open an incognito window and search the commercial terms an SEO company in Nepal should own. If a company sells SEO and cannot rank for its own category term in its own city, that is data, not proof, but it is data you got for free in ninety seconds.

The counter-argument is fair: some excellent consultants get all their work by referral and never optimise their own site. Treat a miss here as a question to raise, not an automatic disqualification. Ask them directly why. The answer is usually revealing either way.

Check 4 in detail: who owns your accounts?

This is the check that costs people the most money when they skip it. Your Google Search Console property, your Google Analytics property and your Google Business Profile must be owned by an email address your business controls, with the agency added as a user.

Google's guidelines for representing your business on Google state that there should only be one profile per business. If an agency creates a second profile under its own account, you inherit a duplication problem when you leave. Sort ownership before the first invoice, not after the relationship ends.

What questions should I ask on the first call?

Ask a Nepali SEO company four questions on the first call: how many senior hours per month you receive, who specifically does the work, what they will ship in the first thirty days, and what would make them tell you SEO is the wrong investment. Vague answers to any of the four are the answer.

The fourth question is the one that separates consultants from salespeople. Anyone who cannot describe a situation where they would advise against their own service is selling, not advising.

For a business with no existing search demand, the honest answer is often that paid ads or local visibility work comes first. That reasoning is why I split the paid and organic decision explicitly in SEO versus Meta ads for Nepali businesses rather than treating organic as the default answer for everyone.

How do I check an SEO company's claimed results?

Check an SEO company's claimed results by asking for the metric, the time period, the starting point and the source. A result stated as "300% traffic growth" with no baseline, no dates and no screenshot from Search Console is not a result, it is a sentence. Verified case studies name all four.

Apply this to every claim in a pitch deck:

Element Question to ask
Metric Traffic, rankings, leads or revenue?
Baseline Growth from what starting number?
Period Over how many months?
Source Search Console, Analytics or the agency's own tool?
Attribution What else changed in that period?

That last row matters. A site that grew 300% while also launching a new product, running ads and getting press coverage did not grow 300% from SEO. An honest provider will say so.

The same discipline applies to pricing claims. Before you compare two proposals, read the cost breakdown in what SEO actually costs in Nepal, which shows why two Nepali quotes can differ fourfold without either being dishonest.

What does good look like in the first ninety days?

Good SEO work in Nepal produces visible deliverables in the first ninety days: a written technical audit with prioritised fixes, a keyword map with one primary keyword per page, measurable indexation improvement, and published content. Rankings may not move yet. Deliverables should.

Days Expected deliverable How you verify it
1 to 30 Technical audit, keyword map, Search Console access You receive documents, not a summary call
31 to 60 Technical fixes shipped, money pages rewritten Crawl errors falling in Search Console
61 to 90 Content published, internal links added, schema live Rich Results Test passes, impressions rising

Impressions rise before clicks, and clicks rise before inquiries. If you are ninety days in with no documents and no Search Console movement, the problem is not that SEO is slow.

Businesses that need local visibility rather than national organic reach should also be judging candidates on their local pack work. That is a different discipline, covered in local SEO for Kathmandu businesses, and plenty of general agencies are weak at it.

Conclusion

There is no best SEO company in Nepal, only the right one for your site, your budget and your timeline. The seven checks above give you a way to find it that does not depend on anybody's list, including mine. The strongest single filter is check four: find out who will own your Google accounts, and settle it in writing before money changes hands.

Do this today: open an incognito window, search the terms you want to rank for, and write down which agencies actually appear. Then run the seven checks on those. If you would rather have that shortlist assessed properly, including a look at what each candidate is actually proposing to ship, send me the proposals.

If you would prefer to see how I work before speaking to anyone, my approach to SEO for Nepali businesses sets out scope and sequence in full, and my background covers the experience behind it.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the number one SEO company in Nepal?
No independently verified ranking of Nepali SEO companies exists. Published lists are typically written by companies that appear on them and disclose no methodology. Rather than trusting a list, test candidates against measurable checks such as their own rankings, their reporting quality, and whether you retain ownership of your Google accounts.
How much does a good SEO company in Nepal charge?
Nepali SEO fees vary widely because providers price different amounts of senior time and different scopes of work. A useful comparison method is to divide the monthly fee by the number of senior hours committed in writing, then check whether technical SEO is included. Fees without committed hours cannot be compared meaningfully.
Should I choose an SEO agency or an independent consultant in Nepal?
Choose an agency when you need several disciplines covered at once and value continuity. Choose an independent consultant when you need senior attention on a specific problem and can accept fewer total hours. Small Nepali businesses with a defined problem usually get more value per rupee from senior attention.
How can I tell if an SEO company is using risky tactics?
Ask what work they refuse to do and how they build links. Bulk purchased links, private blog networks and automated directory submissions carry real risk. Also check whether they promise guaranteed rankings, which nobody can control. Google states that better rankings cannot be requested or paid for.
How long before I should judge an SEO company's performance?
Judge deliverables at thirty days and search performance at ninety. Within the first month you should have a written audit and a keyword map. By ninety days, Search Console should show improving indexation and rising impressions. Inquiries typically follow later, so measuring only leads in month two will mislead you.
